Starting Vplus after sixty

Check medicines, serving directions and swallowing comfort.

Twenty small tablets can look unfamiliar when you first open a sachet. Each weighs 200 mg, so a sachet weighs four grams in total. Before starting, check your current pack and any medicines you take. Age alone does not establish a lower starting dose.

Before your first serving

Indigo’s published directions say twenty tablets once or twice daily, and recommend taking them in the morning before food. Follow the directions on your current pack.

If you would prefer to begin with a smaller amount, show the pack to your pharmacist or doctor and ask what they recommend. Follow their instructions rather than choosing a reduced serving based on age alone.

  • Bring a current medication and supplement list.
  • Show the full ingredient panel and the amount you plan to take.
  • Ask whether Vplus is suitable and whether timing matters for your medicines.
  • Keep the agreed instructions with the pack, where a family member who helps can find them.

If tablets are difficult to swallow

You do not need to swallow a full serving in one mouthful. Take the tablets one at a time with water if that is comfortable for you.

Ask a pharmacist before crushing the product or mixing it into porridge. If you also have difficulty with food or drinks, seek a swallowing assessment instead of trying different textures yourself. Do not assume crushed tablets are always safer.

Notice symptoms without assuming a cause

You may not notice an obvious change in the first week. If you develop diarrhoea, pain or other symptoms, get advice rather than assuming your body needs time to adjust.

Stop and seek advice after a suspected reaction or troublesome symptoms. Mention when you started and how much you took. If you take warfarin, discuss starting, stopping or changing Vplus with your anticoagulation team because vitamin K intake can affect treatment.
