Can I take Vplus with my medication?

What to bring to your doctor or pharmacist, and what to ask.

A product name alone is not enough to check for interactions. Show your doctor or pharmacist the current Vplus label and a complete list of what you take before starting. Our team can provide product information, while they advise on your treatment.

Bring the label and your medicine list

  • The full ingredient panel, directions and any warnings on your current pack.
  • The amount you intend to use. Each Vplus tablet weighs 200 mg; a sachet has twenty tablets.
  • All prescribed and over-the-counter medicines, supplements and herbal products, with their amounts and timing.
  • Relevant health conditions and any planned surgery or procedure.

Vplus contains Chlorella sorokiniana, spirulina and the Indigold blend, which includes algae extracts. Describe the whole formula, extracts included. Calling it a vegetable, or saying it has no extracts, hides part of what your pharmacist needs to check.

Why vitamin K matters with warfarin

Vitamin K intake can affect warfarin treatment. Chlorella can contain vitamin K, so ask your anticoagulation team before starting, stopping or changing Vplus. Do not change a prescribed medicine yourself.

This is a specific issue with warfarin; blood thinners do not all work in the same way. A pharmacist should check your actual medicine and the full formula for other possible interactions.

A gap of a few hours between a supplement and a medicine does not rule out an interaction. The answer may involve avoiding it, adjusting a schedule or arranging monitoring, depending on your treatment.

Questions to ask at the appointment

  • Is this product suitable with my medicines and health conditions?
  • Does its vitamin K content matter for my treatment?
  • Are there food, drink or timing instructions I need to follow?
  • Should I stop it before a planned procedure, and when should I restart if appropriate?

Write down the answer so anyone helping with your routine follows the same instructions. If your clinician needs a manufacturing or label detail, send us their question and we will check what information is available.
