Looking after your household during haze

Use current air-quality advice to plan activities and reduce exposure.

During haze, check Singapore’s current air-quality readings and health advisory before making plans. The appropriate response depends on conditions, time outdoors and individual health. Do not rely on food or supplements to protect against haze.

01

Check the official readings

Use NEA’s haze information or the myENV app. The 24-hour PSI forecast helps with planning, while the 1-hour PM2.5 reading provides information about more immediate conditions. Read the activity guidance alongside the number.

Check the location relevant to your plans and look again if conditions change. Children, older adults and people with existing conditions may need different precautions. A clear-looking skyline or a forwarded screenshot is not a substitute for the current advisory.

02

Reduce smoke entering the home

Follow NEA advice about keeping windows and doors closed when outdoor air is poor, while maintaining a safe, comfortable indoor temperature. Ventilate when outdoor conditions improve.

If using a portable air cleaner, choose one suited to the room and follow its instructions. Check it has a suitable particle filter, and use the smoke Clean Air Delivery Rate, or CADR, to see whether it can clean enough air for the space. Keep vents clear and replace filters as directed.

03

Keep meals and care routines manageable

Continue regular meals, drinking water as appropriate and any prescribed treatment. A special “haze menu” or additional supplement serving is not a proven protective measure.

If you already use Vplus, haze is not a reason to increase it. Follow your current pack and any professional advice. Seek medical help if haze is worsening symptoms or you feel unwell.

04

Follow current advice on outdoor activity and masks

Adjust activity according to the latest advisory rather than using one rule for every PSI level. If the advisory recommends a respirator, fit and correct use matter. Ask a healthcare professional about suitability if you have a condition that makes breathing through one difficult.

Keep household instructions practical: who checks the advisory, which plans can move indoors, and who needs additional help. Breathing difficulty or other severe symptoms require urgent medical attention.
