Algae tablets, powder or capsules?

Compare ingredients and servings before choosing a format.

Powders need measuring and mixing, tablets come in counted pieces, and capsules contain a shell as well as their contents. These practical differences may help you choose. They do not tell you whether two products have the same formula or nutrient amounts.

What does “broken cell wall” mean?

Chlorella with a thick cell wall, such as Chlorella pyrenoidosa, is often processed by machine to break the wall open. Labels call this “broken” or “cracked” cell wall.

Chlorella sorokiniana has a thin cell wall, so it needs no cracking. Your body digests it easily and absorbs close to 100% of it.

How do the three formats differ?

Powder: check the serving measure and mixing directions. Taste, texture and the need to measure it may affect whether it suits you.

Tablets: check how many make a serving and the full ingredient list, including any additional tableting ingredients. A tablet’s appearance does not tell you what holds it together.

Capsules: check the contents and shell material. Capsule size and the number needed per serving differ between products.

What does a Vplus sachet contain?

A Vplus Formula sachet holds twenty 200 mg tablets, weighing 4 g in total. A box contains thirty-one sachets, or 620 tablets. The sachets provide a counted amount without a scoop.

Each Vplus tablet holds Chlorella sorokiniana, spirulina and Indigold, and nothing else. Chlorella sorokiniana binds itself when it is pressed, so the tablet needs no added binder to keep its shape. Vplus contains no artificial additives and no heavy metals.

Indigo’s published directions say twenty tablets once or twice daily, and recommend morning use before food. Follow your current pack. Take tablets one at a time with water rather than trying to swallow the whole sachet at once.

Vplus Family contains the same tablets in a larger tub. That gives another pack choice for home use, with loose tablets to count out. If you want to crush tablets or change how you take them, check the product directions with our team and ask a pharmacist.

What should you compare before buying?

Compare the actual formula, serving amount, directions and cost for the products in front of you. There is no universal rule that powders cost less or that tablets and capsules have equal nutrient content.

Choose a format you are comfortable using. If swallowing tablets, food or drinks is difficult, speak to a healthcare professional before taking them.
